22.04.2012 18:31Want to connect to ipad from PCHello all,
I'm attempting to connect to the iPad from my PC. From the description of this product I understand I should be able to connect to the iPad remotely. I'm interested in doing this mainly so I can have my iPad in another room attached to the stereo, and control the music app running on the iPad from my computer.
I'm following instructions under "To screencast this app onto a computer" section of the app's 'Help'. Connecting to http://192.168.1.x:8080 on my PC's web browser results in a "could not connect" on my PC's web browser (where x is the actual IP address).
My PC and the iPad are on the same 192.168.1.0/24 network. I have also tried running nmap against the iPad's ip address from the PC to scan its ports. The scan didn't show any open ports. I've tried using Mremote and VNCviewer to connect, but have had no luck.
This is with the new iPad (3rd gen). Are there any other steps I can take to get this working? Ideally I'd like to be able to control my ipad's screen, like how a jailbroken device can allow VNC connections from a remote PC. But if I can only connect to the Replicate-Pro app thru a web browser from the PC that's OK too, as long as I have a way to control the music app running on the ipad from my PC, without rooting or jailbreaking the device.
I appreciate your time in reading through this, please respond when you can.

(a) the app is running in the foreground not background,
(b) your computer is on the same network as your iPad/iPhone, and
(c) you enter (into the browser on your PC) the full ip address and port displayed under the Main Menu/Documents module of this app (eg: http://192.168.1.10:8080).
Also check to verify your security settings from the Settings module of this app (ensure the app's server is turned on, and confirm presence/absence of password requirement according to your preference).
This app does not use VNC, nor root/require rooting of the iDevice, nor violate any other Apple policy. It does not require jailbreaking.
You can also easily remotely control the iPod player on your iPad/iPhone from your computer (or from another iPad/iPhone) - see our app called "Music Remote"
Thanks!

I was able to get it working. Not sure why it wasn't working before, because this is the same thing I was trying to do.. but now it works and I'm able to access the ipad on it's port 8080 from a web browser on my PC.
Best regards,
Dan
